Welcome to Carnegie Library of Pittsburgh! Here, everyone is welcome. This guide will help you learn about how you can use the Library and its resources to learn English or improve your literacy skills. 

Is my personal information private at the Library? 

Our Library is an independent organization. The Library is not connected to any government agency or office. We care about your privacy and we do not share your information with anyone. For more information, read over our Privacy Policy.

What can I do at the Library? 

At the library all ages can learn and practice English, make new friends and experience something new every day. The whole family can enjoy story times together and get homework help. You can search for a job, start a business, and study for the citizenship test. Everyone can come to the library and join in these activities whether they have a library card or not.

Can I get a library card? 

Everyone who lives in Pennsylvania can get a free Carnegie Library of Pittsburgh card. All you need is a photo ID like a driver's license or passport. Learn more about getting a library card

How can I use my library card? 

With your library card, you can borrow books, DVDs, and music in many languages from any library in Allegheny County. Borrowing is free! Use our catalog to search for available items, or choose something from your local Library. When you are finished with your items, you can return them to any public library in Allegheny County. You can also use digital tools and apps, all free with your library card.
